What’s new in Petti 1.4
Petti 1.4 · User documentation
The everyday workflow stays the same: open a database, select a table, and browse or deliberately unlock editing. Version 1.4 adds tools around that workflow.
See what your application changed
Snapshots and What Changed? let you capture committed database state, keep named copies and compare supported tables before and after an action. Inspect row and value differences without writing to either snapshot. Unsupported tables and time limits are reported explicitly.
Understand the file you opened
Database Info exposes journal mode, storage and schema metadata. WAL details and file-change notices help you decide when to refresh or capture a stable copy.
Inspect a cell’s contents
Cell previews provide bounded raw, hex, JSON and supported structured/image views. Finder Quick Look remains available for a database overview without opening the main app.
Choose extra tools when you need them
Optional plugins add commands, inspectors, import/export actions and reviewed jobs through a restricted helper. Workspaces offer specialized pages while keeping View Raw Database available. App templates can create ordinary SQLite databases with owned schemas and migrations. Plugins start disabled and require explicit permission approval.
Large-data validation
Testing covered seven generated fixtures, from 10,000 to 100 million rows and from 100 MB to 10.05 GB, on an M1 Mac with 8 GiB RAM running macOS 26.4.1. It exercised bounded browsing, cancellation, snapshots and comparisons. The largest full-table diffs hit the 60-second per-table limit and reported Not compared. These are test results, not a speed guarantee for every database.
Update and compatibility
Download Petti 1.4.0, quit the existing app and drag the new app into Applications. This build is signed and notarized, is Apple silicon only, and targets macOS 14+. Separate macOS 14/15 acceptance and full VoiceOver review remain outstanding; notarization does not establish that testing.
Petti 1 licenses include this 1.x update. No separate purchase is needed for the version upgrade. The free read-only workflow remains available. See license details.
